Claiming kids hang out on street corners because they have nothing to do is a total cop out. They have video games, 100`s of TV channels and god knows what else, ON TOP OF all the games and activities better behaved children of previous generations had to play with. Maybe they should use their imaginations for a change. As of course the parents are to blame. Kids that age shouldn`t be allowed out late at nignt and don`t they have any homework to do?

We started a youth group last year to help the youth in our area. As there is nothing for them to do. That`s why they are standing on street cornors drinking and starting trouble. I would say it`s the governments` fault for not listening to their cry for help. We have drop the youth crime rate for our area and we are aiming to drop it completely.

Not all parents are to blame. But a good lot of them are. As long as their kids are somwhere else out of their way then that suits them fine. My mum left 6 of us when i was 6. My dad brought us up on his own. It was hard and times were hard but we never brought trouble to the door. So dont let the kids say oh poor me.

There`s absolutely no excuse. The parents are 100% to blame. Trouble is that most of the parents don`t care a jot about their kids. If they did they wouldnt be out walking the streets at 3 in the morning. What an example the parents set.

I was brought up in a decent home, I was taught manners and respect. My parents never drank, smoked or behaved in a violent manner. This didn`t stop me behaving badly. I used to smoke, drink and take drugs everyday and just generally caused trouble. I was also arrested a couple of times for drugs offences. I think it is wrong to say it all starts at home. There is only so much a parent can do.

from personal experience with abusive kids and there equally abusive parents it seems obvious it all starts at home. it happens on a daily basis in the area that i live and i,am now looking to move out of northern ireland

Our own Government is partly to blame, they have made it possible for wee girls to have as many brats as they want, pay them all sorts of benefits for doing so and let them jump to tthe top of the housing waiting list..Most of these wee madams have been illreared themselves so how can they be expected to teach their own offspring how to behave.....

I recently, while minding my own business, while out for a walk, had a stone thrown at me by a 10 yr old delinquent, who upon investigation, uses extremely foul language and has interferred with his teacher`s cars at school.Bring back the birch

i have stopped doing vol work with children due to violence from their parents when i have had to speak to children to ask them to stop violent behaviour. all the clubs are set up to reward badly behaved youths. my children dare not go to any local clubs due to the staff being too scared to tell off the badly behaved.my children have all the social disadvantage of peers. we do not use it as an excuse it is an incentive to do well at school to earn a good wage. my children are trying to understand my point of view but the outside world shows them i am a mug as they get nothing for being good except bullied.

This undoubtedly stems from poor or lazy parenting BUT DON`T FORGET, society has changed so much that parents aren`t even really allowed to `discipline` children and by that I mean a smacked behind. Never did me any harm but this ridiculous PC world in which we live has created a "poor me" society. Kids or teens know they can get away with most things these days even if it goes to court. Time to enforce compulsory military attendance. That will sort out these urchins.
